Skyfall and Josai International University Graduate School Launch Joint Initiative to Foster Research Skills and Create Market Value

Helping Students Strengthen Their Master’s Theses Through Marketing Research

Skyfall Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Tomokazu Hasegawa; hereinafter “Skyfall”) is pleased to announce that it provided guidance utilizing its expertise from its marketing research business for master’s theses within the Major in Entrepreneurial Management at the Graduate School of Management and Information Sciences, Josai International University (Location: Togane City, Chiba Prefecture / Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Masato Kurabayashi).

The Entrepreneurship Management Program of the Graduate School of Management and Information Sciences at Josai International University provides working professionals with opportunities to deepen their practical business knowledge.
To support a master’s thesis examining marketing strategies for small and medium-sized enterprises, Skyfall provided access to the SKYFLAG Research panel. Munenori Noguchi, Head of the Research Design Division, also offered practical guidance on research design, target audience selection, data collection, and analysis.

Feedback on the Support Provided

・Makoto Fujii, Associate Professor, Graduate School of Management and Information Sciences, Josai International University

We were drawn to SKYFLAG Research because of its ability to generate insights from a broad range of perspectives, which led us to request Skyfall’s support.
With Mr. Noguchi’s expert guidance at every stage of the research process, the students were able to develop more in-depth analyses by comparing the survey findings with their previous research and hypotheses. As a result, they produced practical and compelling master’s theses.
In particular, students who were new to survey research gained hands-on skills in working with raw data and conducting analyses, significantly improving their ability to interpret and utilize data independently.

Feedback from a Student Who Received Research Guidance

・Ryohei Ota, Second-Year Master’s Student, Graduate School of Management and Information Sciences, Josai International University

・Master’s Thesis Topic:
“The Impact of Seasonal Ambience Appealing to the Five Senses on Customer Evaluations of Restaurants in Japan”

This was my first time conducting a survey. During the design stage, I struggled because I did not fully understand how to formulate questions or how important their order could be. With Mr. Noguchi’s guidance, however, I was able to develop a clear research flow and learn practical survey-design techniques, including how to collect demographic information, measure respondents’ values, and screen out invalid responses.
During the analysis stage, I found it challenging to identify patterns across different combinations of restaurant type and purpose of visit. Through this process, however, I gained practical skills in organizing data and applying statistical methods.
The research helped me test my hypotheses more accurately and strengthen the persuasiveness of my thesis. Going forward, I hope to make active use of research in marketing initiatives and business improvement.

・Mr. Toshihiko Okamoto, Second-Year Master’s Student, Graduate School of Management and Information Sciences, Josai International University

・Master’s Thesis Topic:
“The Need for Alignment Between the Sake Manufacturing Industry’s 4Ps and the Consumer-Oriented 4Cs”

Although this was a large-scale research project, Mr. Noguchi provided careful guidance on even the smallest details, including how to refine the questionnaire design and minimize potential bias. The experience was highly educational.
His advice was particularly valuable when designing the survey to segment consumers into three groups—A, B, and C. By learning how to collect the right data for each segment, we were able to significantly improve the accuracy of our analysis.
At times, it was challenging to determine which cross-tabulations to include, but his support helped us organize the findings in a way that remained closely aligned with the objectives of the research.
Going forward, I hope to continue using marketing research to explore new possibilities not only for the sake industry, but for traditional industries as a whole.

About the Researcher

・Munenori Noguchi (Head of Research Design Division, Research Business Division, Skyfall Inc.)

In my role supporting the working professionals involved in this research, I provided guidance on both survey design and data analysis. Together, we refined the questionnaire and clarified the marketing targets in line with each study’s objectives, with a focus on designing research that would produce more accurate data and richer insights.
Through repeated discussions on how to present the findings and which analytical perspectives to apply, I saw the students’ ideas become increasingly clear and their commitment to the research deepen. The process was also a valuable learning experience for me.
Although we worked through many challenges together, we were ultimately able to bring each project to completion while staying focused on the same goal. I hope this experience will prove useful in their future research and professional work.

Future Outlook

Through its marketing research business, Skyfall provides support and services through SKYFLAG Research with the goal of helping develop the next generation of researchers while creating value for the market.
Beyond simply helping students strengthen their skills in information gathering and data organization for academic research, we are committed to fostering intellectual curiosity, encouraging the exploration of new possibilities, and developing the analytical ability and objectivity needed to connect data from multiple perspectives.

Going forward, we will continue to enhance the value of academic research while contributing to the development of practical skills that can be applied effectively in real-world business environments.
